Healthcare Imperatives

EC Wise expertise in analytic and data integration is tailor-made to meet the needs of health care organizations.

“First do no harm.”

“First do no harm.” That was the advice of a Kaiser Permanente Healthcare Senior IT Manager when asked his views on the most critical aspect of healthcare data management processes.

We think this is good advice when it comes to designing requirements for health care process integration and analytics projects. At EC Wise, we recognize the hand-and-glove relationship between secure patient information, analysis and process improvement.

Health care information technology services were first established in the late 19th century. Yet, today, a small fraction of doctors and hospitals are automated.

Integration Clarity

As a society, we are on the verge of initiating huge changes in health care, with stronger calls to electronic medical records and new business models. The challenge of these new calls to arm are still, fundamentally, extracting data from legacy silos and applications and initiating new business models, processes and analytics.

How do we do this? Not through newspaper headlines and, when it comes to the real work, not exclusively through policy meetings.

The real work is done by talented data extraction crews, able to get actionable data from relevant environments, into new operational data stores and data warehouses for appropriate mining and new processes.

It is not enough to identify new end-user applications and gain buy-off from top management. Health care organization IT teams need to understand and set up these new initiatives, in close integration with existing projects. EC Wise engineers know how to pilot new initiatives from the data side so the projects can have a real world test among the existing process environments of the organization. We can do this cost effectively, and with tools and processes that do not interfere with existing IT initiatives.

New health care strategies brought to Acute, Clinical, Practice, and Home Care patient data integration and analytics will continue to aggressively require effective new data relationships across patient record systems.

For example, data segments of in-patient acute applications are becoming key parts of home health care rehab initiatives managed on mobile devices with real-time and batch updates with charts and patients handed off to different staff. Outcomes management for disease groups, such as diabetes, asthma and high blood pressure are requiring new business processes and reports to be circulated to new circles of interest.

EC Wise is ready to work in close partnership with our clients in cost effectively designing requirements and functional specifications that match the challenges.
